I began my career with words back in 1998 when I started working for the London-based contract publishing company Newsdesk Communications Ltd. Working in the editorial office, I was responsible for designing and proofreading bespoke yearbooks and publications for a wide range of government bodies, financial agencies, and institutions, including the Ministry of Defence, the Financial Services Authority, the Securities Institute, the Export Credits Guarantee Department, the Berne Union, and the Futures and Options Association.
After much deliberation, I decided to take my love of language in a different direction and enrolled on a BA in Russian Studies at the University of Leeds, from where I graduated with a first class honours degree in 2009, followed a year later by an MA in Applied Translation Studies.
With my newly acquired Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under my belt and a firm background in publishing and copyediting/proofreading, I set out on my own as a freelance translator, copyeditor, and proofreader and can honestly say that I have never looked back. Each job offers its own unique challenges, and every day brings something new. I love it!
